Events dedicated to the German Shepherd breed

The German Shepherd is a dog breed known for its intelligence, loyalty and versatility. With an impressive history, it is often a preferred choice for advanced training, public service and rescue work thanks to its remarkable abilities.

Originating in Germany, the breed was first developed in the late 19th century by Captain Max von Stephanitz, whose aim was to create the ultimate working dog. Von Stephanitz used various local shepherd breeds to produce a dog that excelled at both guarding flocks and responding to training.

The benefits of Krause & Doggy food for your German Shepherd

The German Shepherd is a dog breed with specific needs when it comes to both nutrition and general care. With these needs in mind, Krause & Doggy offers dog food on its website and at events that is an excellent choice for this strong, active breed.

  1. Balanced nutritional formula

These dogs are active and muscular, which means they need a diet rich in high-quality protein to support muscle development and maintenance. Krause & Doggy food is formulated with protein from high-quality sources, essential for building and repairing muscle tissue. It also includes an appropriate balance of healthy fats, which not only provide energy but also help maintain healthy skin and a healthy coat.

  • Enriched with vitamins and minerals

A German Shepherd's diet needs to include a broad range of vitamins and minerals to support optimal immune function and maintain strong joints. With essential added nutrients such as vitamin E, omega 3 and omega 6, Krause & Doggy food helps support cardiovascular health and a strong immune system.

  • Tailored for optimal digestion

German Shepherds are prone to digestive sensitivity. Krause & Doggy dog food includes high-quality dietary fibre, probiotics and prebiotics that help maintain digestive tract health. These ingredients support easy digestion and help optimise nutrient absorption, which is important for maintaining your dog's energy and vitality.

Competitions and campaigns sponsored by Krause & Doggy

Supported by Krause & Doggy, dog shows and training competitions give you the chance to show everyone just how wonderful your dog is. Each competition is a stage where canine beauty, grace and intelligence are celebrated, and the German Shepherd's anatomy and breed characteristics are carefully assessed.

Cat Psychology: How to Understand Your Cat and Build a Harmonious Relationship

Cats are fascinating, mysterious animals full of personality. Understanding their behaviour not only helps you respond better to their needs, but also helps build a deep bond based on trust and affection. In this article, we will explore cat psychology, how cats communicate and how you can use this knowledge to give your cat a happier, more balanced life. Cat Communication: Body Language and What It Means Cats are experts at nonverbal communication, and every gesture or body position has a distinct meaning. Understanding these signals can make the difference between a tense relationship and a harmonious one. Tail Position: An Indicator of Emotions Raised tail: Indicates confidence and happiness. Your cat feels comfortable and safe. Puffed-up tail: A sign of fear or aggression. Your cat is trying to appear larger to deter a potential threat. Tail tucked between the legs: Indicates submission or fear. In this situation, try to create a calm environment.   Ear Movements: Curiosity or Concern Forward-facing ears: Your cat is attentive and interested. Flattened ears: A sign of irritation, stress or fear. Rapid ear movements: Alertness or irritation. It is important to consider the context. The “Slow Blink” and Other Signs of Affection One of the strongest signs of trust is the “slow blink”. When a cat slowly closes their eyes in your presence, they are showing that they trust you. You can strengthen this connection by returning the gesture. Common Behaviours and What They Reveal Cats display a range of distinctive behaviours that reflect both their emotional and physical health. Each behaviour can offer a “window” into how they are feeling. Fear and Anxiety Cats are creatures of habit, and sudden changes can trigger stress or anxiety. Common signs include: Hiding in dark or secluded places. Unusual vocalisations, such as growling or hissing. Avoiding interaction or showing aggression.   Boredom and Hunting Instincts Cats are natural hunters. Without enough stimulation, they may develop destructive behaviours: Scratching furniture. Attacking their owner's feet. Compulsive behaviours. The solution is regular play sessions and toys that mimic the movements of prey. Stress and Environmental Changes Stress can have devastating effects on cats, showing up as: Excessive grooming (which can lead to fur loss). Changes in appetite. Behavioural problems, such as urinating outside the litter box. Make sure introductions to new people, animals and environments are gradual, and that your cat has a safe place to retreat to. Building Trust and Strengthening Your Bond Contrary to popular myths, cats are not antisocial animals. They can form strong bonds with their owners, but these take time and patience. Respecting Personal Space Cats appreciate interactions they initiate themselves. Letting them approach at their own pace will help you earn their trust more quickly. Establishing a Routine Routine is extremely important for cats. Feeding, playtime and grooming should follow a consistent schedule, giving your cat a sense of stability. Rewarding Positive Behaviour Whether it is a treat or an extra play session, positive reinforcement is key to strengthening your bond. Play: The Key to Your Cat’s Happiness Play is more than just a fun activity; it is essential for your cat’s mental and physical health. Interactive Toys Toys that mimic the movements of prey, such as feather wands or laser toys, are ideal for stimulating natural instincts. Climbing Structures Cat trees or high shelves provide physical exercise and an elevated vantage point, giving cats a sense of security. Improving the Play Routine Plan daily play sessions tailored to your cat’s preferences. Keep things varied by rotating toys and introducing new items, such as cardboard boxes or tunnels. Signs of Affection and Communication Cats express affection in subtle ways, from rubbing their head against you to bringing you “gifts”. Head Rubbing This is a way for your cat to mark their territory and show affection. Purring Purring is often a sign of contentment, but it can also be a way for cats to soothe themselves. “Kneading” When your cat presses their paws into you or the bed, they are showing that they feel comfortable and content. Creating a Safe and Stimulating Environment A thoughtfully arranged environment significantly improves your cat’s quality of life. Resting Spaces Make sure your cat has quiet, comfortable places to retreat to. Puzzle Feeders These combine mental stimulation with food rewards, giving your cat a challenge that keeps them occupied. Window Watching Spots Cats love watching the world outside. Set up a comfortable perch by a window to spark your cat’s curiosity. Conclusion Cat psychology is complex, but once you begin to understand their behaviour, you will discover a fascinating world full of subtleties. Every cat is unique, and your dedication to understanding their needs and providing a safe, loving environment will lead to a deep and fulfilling relationship. Build a bond based on trust and respect, and your cat will respond with loyalty, affection and unconditional companionship.

Obezitatea la Câini și Pisici: Costurile Surprinzătoare ale Acelor Extra-Recompense

Obesity in Dogs and Cats: The Surprising Costs of Those Extra-Treats

Every pet parent wants the best for their furry friend – delicious food, playtime and plenty of treats. However, gestures of affection, such as generous portions or frequent snacks, can have unintended consequences. Pet obesity has become a serious global problem, affecting not only quality of life but also lifespan. According to a recent study from 2023, 65% of dogs and 60% of cats are overweight or obese. This is not just a cosmetic issue – obesity is associated with conditions such as diabetes, arthritis and cardiovascular disease, causing discomfort and significantly reducing life expectancy.   How Can We Recognise the Signs of Obesity in Pets? 1. Visible physical changes Ribs that are difficult to feel beneath the coat and fat. A sagging abdomen and a poorly defined waist. Noticeable fat deposits, especially around the tail or along the back. 2. Behavioural changes Less interest in playing or exercising. Tiring quickly, even after light activity. Reluctance to climb stairs or jump. 3. Signs of poor health Laboured breathing or difficulty breathing. Limping or discomfort when moving. Increased thirst and urination – possible signs of diabetes.   The Impact of Obesity on Pet Health Obesity is not just a weight issue; it affects a pet's entire body. Here are some of the associated risks: Diabetes mellitusExcess weight can lead to increased insulin resistance, raising the risk of diabetes, especially in cats. Joint problems and reduced mobilityExtra weight puts pressure on the joints, leading to arthritis or other orthopaedic problems. Cardiovascular and respiratory diseasesExtra fat around the chest and abdomen can make breathing difficult and put strain on the heart. Reduced organ functionThe liver and kidneys are more susceptible to damage caused by excess fat. Reduced lifespanStudies show that obese pets have a life expectancy up to two years shorter than those at a healthy weight. How Can We Prevent and Tackle Obesity? Preventing and managing obesity involves three key pillars: appropriate nutrition, regular exercise and careful monitoring. 1. Portion Control Measure food accurately: Avoid estimating portions by eye and use a kitchen scale or measuring cup. Regular feeding: Divide meals into two-three portions a day, following your vet's recommendations. Healthy snacks: Replace high-calorie treats with pieces of carrot, apple or other low-calorie options.   2. A Tailored Diet Choose a balanced food with reduced fat and calorie content. High-fibre diets help your pet feel full without increasing calorie intake. Consult a vet to determine the best diet for your pet's needs. 💡 Recommended products: Food for overweight dogs Food for overweight cats   3. Exercise and Physical Stimulation Regular exercise helps burn excess calories and maintain muscle tone. For dogs: Daily walks of 15-30 minutes. Activities such as fetch or swimming (ideal for dogs with joint problems). Agility courses or interactive games with toys. For cats: Interactive toys, such as laser pointers or feather wands. Puzzle feeders that encourage movement while eating. Climbing structures, such as cat trees. 4. Monitoring and Motivation Track progress: Weigh your pet regularly and record any changes. Celebrate milestones: Reward weight loss with a new toy or a longer play session.   When Should You Consult a Vet? If your furry friend has difficulty moving, refuses to eat or shows other unusual symptoms, it is time to consult a vet. They may recommend: A personalised weight loss plan. Therapeutic diets. Exercise tailored to their health.   The Benefits of Weight Loss Even a modest weight loss of 10% of body weight can bring significant benefits: Reduced joint pain. Improved respiratory function. Increased energy levels and eagerness to play.   Conclusion Obesity in dogs and cats is more than a physical issue – it is a health problem that requires attention and immediate action. By choosing the right food, introducing physical activity and carefully monitoring progress, you can help your furry friend live a healthier, happier life.
