The clicker is a dog training tool that acts as a behaviour marker. It produces a clear, distinctive sound, perfect for training puppies and adult dogs.

Clicker training involves marking the dog's desired behaviour. Press the clicker once at the exact moment the dog correctly follows a command. This signals to the dog that it has completed the task correctly. Every click must always be followed by a reward, such as a treat.

Using a clicker is more precise than using your voice or verbal praise.

Rules for using the clicker:

1. Press the clicker once, at the exact moment the dog follows the command.

2. A click always means a reward follows the completed task.

3. Do not hold the clicker close to the dog's ear or frighten it with the sound.

The clicker is also used to train other animals, such as cats, horses and rodents.
